The tool can generate a profile photo from a single portrait in a variety of styles, moods and positions, adding a company logo or other brand elements.

The service is intended primarily for HR and event departments of companies, but also for agencies that prepare various events for clients and are looking for ways to make them special. Rembrand opens up new possibilities for music and film festival organizers and marketers, who can generate a star-style profile tag for visitors and watch it spread on social media.

Let's put down the filters: How Rembrand came about

We have become the main partner of the largest developer conference in Central Europe, MDevCamp (which we subsequently took over), for which we devised a non-traditional gamification element.

Our goal was to offer visitors a technological experience while engaging conference partners attractively. Of the dozens of ideas, we were most intrigued by the concept of an application in which each visitor can generate their own avatar.

How did we engage partners? Simply. The app basically had seven styles available immediately after download. Each participant was given ten credits, with one credit costing one credit to generate one photo. If someone wanted to try multiple styles, of which there were 70 in total, they had to visit a partner's booth and scan a QR code, thereby unlocking additional styles and earning credits.

We then developed the idea: each partner could have their own style augmented by company colors or logo, and this was only half a step towards the final Rembrand tool, which we now offer as our first company product.

How we went about it technologically

We originally planned to use a commercial solution like OpenAI or Midjourney, but it did not meet our ideas of gamification or control over the generated images. We wanted it to be enough to upload only one photo, so we decided to develop our own solution. The engine is a stable diffusion model, the input for creating portraits is a prompt, into which the identity of the person from the photo is processed along with the desired style.

We used LLM for the style generation, and we had the style labels, which were the input for image generation, designed by AI. The photos were provided to us by colleagues, who we then asked for feedback using a simple tool. For MDevCamp, we selected 70 of the best styles that made it to the final application.

One of the reasons for creating our own solution was also security. We did not want to send users' photos to third-party servers, but to use our own, thereby ensuring a higher level of data protection.

What Rembrand can do

- Style. Rembrand can create any style imaginable, be it cartoon, comic, photorealistic, animated or graffiti. It can integrate logo, colors and other elements.

- Pose. They can place a person in a specific pose, for example, Diskobola or Arnold Schwarzenegger, and add a company logo or other brand elements to the photo.

- That's the vibe. It works with backgrounds, colors and various objects, so you can create the atmosphere of 18th century London or teleport yourself anywhere else.

- What we had to look back on.So that inappropriate elements such as nudity or weapons do not appear in the outputs. Thus, each prompt contains a list of things that should not appear.

We can prepare the solution on a turnkey basis, integrate it into an existing application or interface that the client prefers, for example in Slack. For advanced users, we can prepare an API and pass it to your developers for customization according to their needs.
