Restu is a guide to Czech restaurants, pubs, and cafés.
Miton needed an app to compete with the best mobile apps both in the Czech Republic and abroad. It also wanted to improve the previous 1.0 version for iOS and create a brand new Android version.

Basically, we replaced an in-house team of developers. The development, optimizing and enhancement of the app has been going on for 18 months now.

Testing the iBeacon
We placed bluetooth iBeacons in several restaurants. If a user gets within their reach, Restu automatically sends out a selected message. These beacons are a great hit abroad, and its market is expected to reach up to half a billion dollars within three years.
Using 3D touch
Together with its new iPhone 6s, Apple has introduced another of its revolutionary features – 3D touch. Of course, we couldn’t keep this “deep press” for ourselves, so we used it as a quick shortcut for the four most popular features in the app.
Personalized actions
The entire app is monitored by analytics literally at every single step. We know how many people arrive, what exactly they do in the app, how many of them make their first and then second booking, etc. Based on this data, they receive special notifications from us and we urge them to take further action.
Bluetooth Low Energy
Thanks to Restu, we dove deep into the issues related to Bluetooth Low Energy. Using eddystone, we could easily provide perfect user-experience depending on current location.
Technology showcase
Restu is a technology showcase. In the app, we used advanced procedures for working with image data and for correctly freeing up device resources, specifically the memory. Using Fresco and LeakCanary libraries, we could remove all the related ills of the system and achieve final crash-free stats exceeding 99.5%.
Stictly checked
We care about what’s outside as well as inside. Restu was strictly and regularly checked by several static analysers of the source code, such as pmd, checkstyle, findbug, etc.

Our new Android version soon became the top rated app of its kind on the Czech market.
It won all three main prizes at AppParade in May 2015, and it placed fourth in the WebTop100 contest.
However, the main thing is that the app is popular with its users. From an initial five bookings a day it has grown up to 200 – an amazing increase of 4000%!
